Firefighters Rescue Man Stuck In Tunnel Under I-105 In Hawthorne
HAWTHORNE (CBSLA.com) – Firefighters rescued a man stuck inside a tunnel under Interstate 105 in Hawthorne Monday.
He was pulled out at about 3 p.m. and taken to a hospital by an ambulance.
Shortly before 11 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded to the area of Hawthorne Boulevard and West 111th Street on a report of a man stuck in a tunnel about 30 feet underground.
Hawthorne Public Works crews removed water from the tunnel so firefighters could reach the man, LACFD said.
Rescuers said he was in good condition. There was no immediate word on how the man got trapped.
The tunnel is believed to provide access to a pump station, according to sources at the scene.
