Man Dies After Stabbing On Grover Cleveland High School Campus
RESEDA (CBSLA.com) — An 18-year-old man has died after being stabbed at the handball courts at Grover Cleveland High School.
The stabbing occurred around 4 p.m., after the victim was approached by two men during an argument, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
"He collapsed at scene and the suspects fled," Sgt. John Egan said.
The victim was rushed to the hospital shortly after the stabbing, but he died of multiple stab wounds before reaching the emergency room.
The suspects are believed to be between the ages of 18 and 20. Their identities are unknown.
Investigators reportedly may have several leads as to the suspects' possible whereabouts.
Students and authorities alike are surprised that the crime took place at the high school, which does not have a violent reputation.
"I'm surprised that it was where it was, because it's a very public area," student David Legel said. "There are always a lot of people on the handball court, and it was in front of a lot of people who obviously saw it. So I think that's really surprising where it happened."
The name of the victim, who was once at student at Grover Cleveland High School, has not been released.
