Mother Of 3 Fatally Shot In Mobile Home Park In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old mother of three was fatally shot in Long Beach and police were searching for her boyfriend in connection with the killing.

Long Beach police say in a statement that they responded to a shooting call in the 6400 block of Atlantic Avenue about 10:35 p.m. Saturday.

Upon arriving at the mobile home park, police say they found the victim suffering of a gunshot wound to the upper torso. She was identified as Eleonora Rivera Hidalgo.

Hidalgo was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told police that the suspect, identified by police as 24-year-old Marcos Gustavo Zermeno, was last seen jumping over a fence. He remains at large.

Police said the victim was the girlfriend and the mother of Zermeno's children.

Zermeno, a Hispanic man, is 5-feet-6-inches tall, weighs 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

According to police, he is a documented gang member and has several tattoos, including one that reads "Eleonora" on his neck and a depiction of skulls on his right shoulder. He also has the word "Compton" tattooed on his right forearm.

Authorities say the kids, ranging in age from two to seven, were being cared for by relatives.

According to investigators, Zermeno should be considered armed and dangerous.
