Man Killed After Gunfire Erupts Outside Encino Home, Suspect Detained
ENCINO (CBSLA) – A man was shot and killed outside an Encino home early Monday morning during a family gathering.
The shooting occurred in the 18000 block of Green Meadow Drive at 2:20 a.m. Los Angeles police arrived on scene to find a man with a gunshot wound.
He was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he died, police said. His name was not released.
The owner of the home – who officers believe is the one who opened fire, was detained at the scene. He was also not identified.
Police told CBSLA that the shooting was the result of an argument which broke out during a family gathering at the home. It's unclear at this time if the suspect and victim are related.
The gunfire caused damage to the home and sent a bullet into the kitchen of an adjacent home, police said.
A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
"I have been here for so many years and it's a quiet community," neighbor Heather Michaels told CBSLA. "We don't have any activity."
