Man Shot And Killed While Riding Bike In North Hollywood
NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — A man was shot to death while riding his bicycle early Monday morning.
The victim, in his early 20s, was riding his bike on Laurel Canyon Blvd. when he was shot in a drive-by around 1:30 a.m., Los Angeles police said.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head and was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to police, Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies saw several men flee from the scene in a white van. The van was later found abandoned near Sherman Way, about five miles away. Police said they are looking for four to six suspects. No descriptions were released.
Authorities believe the shooting is gang related.
Laurel Canyon Blvd., from Vanowen to Hart streets, was closed for several hours as police investigated. It was reopened just after 7 a.m.
The victim has not been identified.
