Man Sentenced In Murder Of SoCal Family

SANTA ANA (AP) — A prison parolee has been sentenced to three life terms without parole for fatally stabbing and slashing a Southern California couple and their 6-year-old son over an $80,000 debt.

Orange County prosecutors said Friday that Quang Van Quan, now of Houston, left the family's 11-month-old daughter unharmed and she sat by her mother's dead body for two days.

The 39-year-old Quan was convicted in October of three counts of murder in the 2006 deaths of 30-year-old Phuong Le; Le's wife 25-year-old Ngoc Lam; and her 6-year-old son Tommy Lam.

Quan's defense attorney had argued that Quan went to the home with another man to discuss repayment of a loan taken out from a high-ranking organized crime figure, but left before Le was killed.
