Man Robs Woman At Knifepoint For Cell Phone In Seal Beach
SEAL BEACH (CBS) — A man held a woman at knifepoint to rob her cell phone, Seal Beach police announced.
The robbery was reported at 8:27 p.m. Wednesday on Electric Avenue near 10th Street, said Sgt. Steve Bowles of the Seal Beach Police Department.
The suspect is still at large.
The victim told police she was walking on Electric between 10th and Main streets when the suspect got out of a vehicle and asked her if he could use her phone, Bowles said.
"After refusing, the suspect brandished a 10 to 12-inch kitchen knife," Bowles said in a statement. "Fearing for her safety, the victim gave the phone to the suspect, at which time he left the area in a vehicle."
The suspect is about 19 to 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He has short brown hair and was clean shaven.
The man was wearing a black hoodie and was seen leaving the area in a dark blue mid-1990s Honda or Nissan sedan.
Police urged anyone with information regarding this robbery to contact Detective Gary Krogman at (562) 799-4100, ext. 1108.
