Man Reportedly Tries To Kidnap 16-Year-Old Girl In San Gabriel
SAN GABRIEL (CBSLA.com) — A man reportedly tried to kidnap a 16-year-old girl in San Gabriel Tuesday.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. in the 1900 block of South Jackson Avenue, according to Lt. Brian Kott of the San Gabriel Police Department.
The girl told authorities that she was sitting on the curb when a man parked his car nearby.
When the teen started to walk back to her family's home and passed the suspect, he allegedly said, "You need to come with me," and opened the passenger door of his vehicle.
The man then grabbed the victim by the collar, which caused her to fall to the ground, Kott said.
The suspect grabbed at her feet, but the girl managed to escape.
The man is described as being in his late 30s, about 6 feet tall, with a thin build and dark shoulder-length wavy hair.
He was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans with holes in them.
The suspect was driving a late 90s black Nissan with tinted windows. The car had an inoperable passenger side headlight and a large dent on the front passenger door.
