Man Pleads Not Guilty To Fatally Stabbing Estranged Wife At Supermarket Where She Worked
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man pleaded not guilty Thursday to a charge that he fatally stabbed his estranged wife at a Santa Monica supermarket where she worked.
Kelvin Green, 52, is accused of the Aug. 21 stabbing of his estranged wife, Christina Talley, who died a day after being attacked as she worked at a check out counter at an Albertsons store at 3105 Wilshire Blvd.
Green was determined to be a suspect in the 46-year-old woman's slaying, according to Santa Monica police.
He was arrested Aug. 22, then taken to an area hospital to be treated for an unspecified medical condition, police said.
Along with one count of murder, Green faces one count of assault involving a good Samaritan who tried to intervene in the fatal attack. The good Samaritan was not injured, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Green remains jailed on $1 million bail pending his next appearance Oct. 12 at the Airport Branch Courthouse in Los Angeles.
