Man Pleads Guilty In Counterfeit Coupon Scam
ORANGE COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — An Anaheim man has pleaded guilty to selling thousands of counterfeit coupons.
Prosecutors say Boi Quoc Vo made nearly $100,000 in a counterfeit coupon scam targeting Kohl's department store.
Dan Showalter of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement told KNX1070's Mike Landa Vo altered legitimate coupons so they could be used numerous times.
"He played with the security features of that coupon, changed the bar code, changed the bar code number, that way it couldn't be tracked. And then he started selling it on Ebay under various user names," Showalter said.
The loss to Kohl's has not been calculated.
Vo faces up to 20 years in prison.
