Man Named As 'Person Of Interest' In Murder Of Anaheim Woman, 6-Month-Old Baby
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Police are searching for a 24-year-old man in connection with the murders of a woman and a 6-month-old boy found dead in an Anaheim apartment Monday.
Kwane Carpenter is a "person of interest" in the killings, according to Anaheim police Lt. Eric Trapp, who said, "We'd sure like to talk to him."
Police were called at 12:10 p.m. to an apartment in the 2600 block of West Ball Road to investigate a "felony assault in progress," Trapp said.
The infant was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Trapp said. The woman, who was in her mid-20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims, whose names were not released, were reportedly stabbed, but investigators have not confirmed that information. Carpenter is believed to have lived at the apartment with the victims, but police will not say what his relationship was to the woman or the baby.
Carpenter, described as a black man, 6 feet tall and about 150 pounds with short black hair and last seen wearing gray shorts, is believed to be driving a black 2001 Lincoln Town Car that is not registered to him. The license plate number is 19990N1.
Family and friends showed up at the apartment Monday night to pay their respects to the victim. They described her as a quiet woman from Kenya in her mid-20s.
Loved ones declined to speak on camera.
Police ask that anyone who may have information on Carpenter's whereabouts contact them immediately.
