Man Killed In Riverside After Crashing Vehicle Into Utility Pole
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Crews were on the scene of a fatal traffic collision Sunday involving a man that struck a utility pole.
According to the Riverside Police Department, officials were sent around 12:45 a.m. to the area of Jurupa Avenue and Chester Street for report of the crash.
The driver of a 1998 VW Jetta was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers said a preliminary investigation revealed that an adult male driver traveled at a high rate of speed Eastbound on Jurupa Avenue.
He lost control of his vehicle when he passed Essex Street and struck a utility pole just before Chester Street.
The victim was traveling alone at the time of the crash.
His identity is being held pending family notification.
