Man Wins Big At Casino Before Fatal Robbery
SANTA ANA (AP) — Police say a man, who hit it big at a Southern California casino, was robbed and killed after apparently being followed from the gambling hall.
Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna says the 55-year-old victim won several thousand dollars at the Hawaiian Gardens Casino early Friday and was heading home with a woman when a car cut him off in Santa Ana.
Bertagna says the drivers got into a fight after the suspect demanded his winnings and the victim went down. As the suspect drove off, he ran over the victim.
Bertagna doesn't know how much money was taken. An autopsy was scheduled Friday to determine how the victim died.
The corporal says the man's name was not released because his family had not been notified.
The woman was uninjured.
