ALHAMBRA (CBS) — A man was killed early Saturday morning after he led CHP officers on a 100 mph chase before crashing his car into another vehicle head-on.

Three people were injured in the car the fleeing motorist crashed into.

The crash occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday, according to the CHP.

The man who was fleeing was driving a 1997 Honda Accord. He crashed into a Dodge Charger at Paseo Rancho Castilla and Mariondale Avenue.

The man had been wanted for speeding. After crashing, he was able to get out of his car but he collapsed and died on a lawn nearby. His name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The three victims in the other vehicle were taken to County-USC Medical Center. One, a 49-year-old woman, was reported to have major injuries, a 20-year-old female with moderate injuries and the other, the 53-year-old male driver with minor injuries, according to the CHP.

The Dodge was reportedly hit at a stop sign at the entrance to Cal State LA and knocked about 125 feet from the point of impact.
