Homeless Man In His Mid-40s Fatally Stabbed In Downtown LA
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday said a homeless man in his mid-40s was stabbed to death on a downtown street and a suspect was in custody.
Los Angeles police Sgt. Keith Green says the incident was reported about 10 p.m. Saturday at Wilshire Boulevard and Grand Avenue.
Green also said two other suspects were at large. Detectives are scanning surveillance videos trying to identify the other two suspects.
According to the sergeant, the homeless man was about to set up camp in the 600 block of Wilshire Boulevard when a group of about six men asked him to leave.
As the homeless man reportedly began to gather his belongings, the group of six said he wasn't moving fast enough.
To retaliate, the homeless man reportedly tried to kick one of the group's dogs.
In turn, the dog owner struck the homeless man several times. Two other men joined in the attack on the homeless man, according to witnesses.
During the fight, one of the men stabbed the homeless man with a sharp object.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness was able to identify the suspect to arriving officers.
