Son Sought For Questioning After Father's Stabbing Death
PICO RIVERA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities want to speak with the 17-year-old son of a man who was stabbed in his Pico Rivera home Saturday morning, and later died at an area hospital.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help in locating Sergio Anthony Gutierrez, who is considered a person of interest and is wanted for questioning in relation to the stabbing. Investigators believe Sergio Gutierrez is driving a silver 2000 Infiniti, with California license plate 4MAB667.
Investigators said they responded to the home in the 3700 block of Oaklawn Lane around 1:35 a.m. Saturday following a robbery call. When they arrived, they found a 50-year-old man near the front door, suffering from a stab wound.
The man was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
On Saturday afternoon, authorities told CBS2's Greg Mills that the son has been missing since the stabbing took place. There was no sign of forced entry at the home, where the slain man lived with his wife, their son, Sergio, and a woman who rents a room.
"We learned during the interviews that (the son) was here at the location when the dad was stabbed," said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Holly Francisco. "He is not a suspect at this time."
'He's a young kid, in high school, really nice, young, clean-cut boy," neighbor Patty Rivera told Mills. "I've know him since he was little."
Deputies have been called to the home a number of times in the past year for domestic violence issues.
Anyone with more information about this case was asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
