Man Gets 198 Years To Life In Murders Of 2 Boys
BELLFLOWER (CBS) — A 22-year-old Bellflower man has been sentenced to 198 years to life in prison in the murders of two teen boys.
Long Beach Superior Court Judge Mark Kim denied the defense's motion for a new trial for Jonzel Stringer, who was convicted of second-degree murder in the shooting deaths of two boys at a birthday party in Long Beach, according to Deputy District Attorney Karen Thorp.
Stringer, now 22, was convicted along with 19-year-old co-defendant Izac McCloud in the Jan. 19, 2008, slayings of Breon Taylor, 15, of Los Angeles, and Dennis Moses, 17, of Long Beach.
Along with the murders, jurors found Stringer guilty of 46 counts of attempted murder involving a 17-year-old boy who was shot in the leg and 45 others at the party who were in what prosecutors called "the kill zone."
A separate jury convicted McCloud of both murders and 46 counts of assault with a firearm, and found true allegations that McCloud had personally used a firearm in the commission of the crimes.
McCloud, who was 16 at the time of the crimes and tried as an adult, was sentenced Oct. 7 to 202 years to life in prison.
