Man Found Dead, Woman Injured Inside Thousand Oaks Apartment
THOUSAND OAKS (CBSLA) -- A man was found dead and a woman injured early Monday morning at an apartment in Thousand Oaks, authorities say.
Ventura County Sheriff's deputies say they were called for a disturbance at an apartment at 74 Maegan Place at around 1:15 a.m.
According to authorities, four people were in the apartment when they arrived on scene.
Deputies say a 26-year-old man was found dead, a 27-year-old woman was injured and two other young men were inside the apartment as well. The nature and extent of the woman's injuries were not immediately known.
A neighbor told CBS2 that police have visited the apartment several times in the past.
"Loud screaming, commotion, fighting, yelling," another neighbor said, as she described what she heard before police arrived. "Then I started hearing bloodcurdling screams." The neighbor went on to say the screams sounded like they were coming from a woman.
The injured woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries and was reportedly in surgery Monday morning. Investigators have not yet spoken with her because of her condition.
CBS2's Randy Paige spoke to Vinnie Oliveira one of the roommates. He said he was upstairs when he heard them yelling and then heard things breaking downstairs. When he went to investigate, he said he saw blood.
"When I came downstairs," said Oliveira, "I saw that he was holding his chest. And it was bleeding, he was dripping blood on the whole place. And she was holding the knife...and he said 'she stabbed me, call the police.'"
Oliveira said the way his roommate fell it appeared that nothing could be done for him.
He also said when he was out of the apartment, he could hear police telling the woman to "Stop, stop, stop," he said "like she was doing something to herself."
