Man Found Dead After Torrance Shooting, Standoff
TORRANCE (CBS 2) — Police SWAT officers Monday found the body of a man suspected of fatally shooting a neighbor in a Torrance apartment complex.
The suspect died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The suspect was found a few hours into the search of an apartment complex at 4023 242nd St., near Hawthorne Boulevard, Torrance police Sgt. Jeremiah Hart said.
It appears the suspect was in his own apartment and that he shot himself, Hart said.
The SWAT team got a search warrant and began looking for the suspect at about 10 p.m.
Hart said there were no other victims, and the reason for the murder-suicide is not known.
The shooting led to the evacuation of several apartments and a standoff that lasted several hours.
