Man Fatally Stabbed In Gang-Related Fight At Buena Park Apartment
BUENA PARK (CBSLA.com) — Police say a man was killed and another man was critically injured after a gang-related fight in Buena Park.
Police were called out to a fight at about 10:30 p.m. Monday at an apartment building at 6025 Fullerton Avenue and found two men with stab wounds, Buena Park police Corporal Andy Luong said.
Daniel Antonio Herrera, 25, of Buena Park, was declared dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange, Luong said.
The second man, whose name and age were not released, was in critical condition at UCI Medical Center.
Investigators initially believed the men were shot because witnesses had reported hearing gunshots, Luong said.
Investigators believe the stabbing was gang-related, but did not provide more details, Luong said.
Marilyn Martinez, who said she lived in the complex, said she believed they were in their 40s and that they lived in the two-story apartment building for three or four years. Martinez said she didn't hear gunshots, but that barking dogs alerted her to the trouble.
Martinez said she saw the two victims in front of the building — one on a sidewalk bleeding heavily, and another on some grass nearby.
"We've lived here for 18 years," Martinez said. "We've never had anything like this before."
Martinez said she had seen the men occasionally, but did not know them.
