Man Fatally Shot In Santa Ana; Suspect Remains At Large

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Thursday identified a man who was fatally shot by his friend in Santa Ana.

Around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to the area of 1100 West Chestnut for report of a shooting that had just occurred.

Upon their arrival, police located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

Paramedics transported the victim to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have identified the victim as Paul Guzman.

A preliminary investigation revealed Guzman and the suspect were acquaintances.

Officers said it appeared as though an argument took place between both men prior to the shooting.

A handgun that is believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered by officers near the crime scene.

According to police, the suspect fled the area on foot. His name is being withheld due to ongoing efforts to locate him.
