Man Critical After Being Struck By 2 Hit-And-Run Drivers
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A pedestrian is in critical condition Wednesday after he was reportedly struck by two hit-and-run drivers in Hawthorne, according to officials.
Early reports from the scene said the man was killed by a vehicle on Crenshaw Boulevard near West 120th Street, just south of the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, in Hawthorne, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball says.
But at this writing, the man is still alive.
Eyewitness accounts also differ on the make and model of the vehicles that hit the man.
But by most accounts, the pedestrian was struck by a car as he jaywalked across the street. While he was knocked to the other side of the road, apparently while on the ground he was struck a second time.
Both drivers fled the scene.
