Man Charged In Weekend Baby Abduction, Assault On Palmdale Mother
PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — A 33-year-old man reportedly has been charged with the kidnapping and attempted murder of an 18-month-old girl after beating and kidnapping her mother.
Brandon Michael Wynn of Lancaster is also accused of forcing the baby's mother and another woman into prostitution, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Wynn, who also goes by the name Smooth, was charged Tuesday with 13 total felony counts, including first-degree burglary, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, which in this case was bleach. Wynn also faces two counts each of human trafficking to commit another crime, pimping and kidnapping.
A Lancaster woman called police to report that Wynn had broke into her home on Thursday and sexually assaulted her, Deputy District Attorney Theodore Swanson said. He kidnapped her, beating her and dousing her with bleach before dumping her naked in the desert, authorities said.
Wynn kidnapped the victim's toddler around 3 a.m. Saturday from a Motel 6 in Palmdale, according to Swanson.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert.
A few hours later, authorities found the baby strapped in a car seat inside a shed in Palmdale. She was taken to a hospital for symptoms of exposure.
The prosecutor is requesting more than $3 million bail for Wynn, who faces a possible maximum sentence of multiple life terms.
Wynn is expected back in court Aug. 4.
