COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old man was charged Friday in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, whose body was found in a Compton backyard.
Devion Keith Anderson allegedly confessed to killing the 18-year-old woman, whose name and cause of death have been withheld pending notification of relatives.
The victim's body was discovered Monday evening after deputies responded to a home in the 400 block of South Pannes Avenue following a domestic violence call.
After arriving, deputies learned that a body may be buried in the backyard, Sheriff's homicide Lt. John Corina said.
Authorities subsequently excavated the area and found the young woman's body.
Anderson was arrested overnight Tuesday after walking into the Compton sheriff's station and allegedly confessing, the lieutenant said.
He has been ordered to remain jailed in lieu of $1 million bail while awaiting arraignment on Jan. 17.
