Man Charged In Body-In-Freezer Killing
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles County prosecutors have charged an 18-year-old man with murdering his mother, whose dismembered body was found in a freezer.
The district attorney's office alleges that Moises Meraz-Espinosa killed 42-year-old Amelia Espinoza on Feb. 2 at their residence in suburban Maywood.
Deputy District Attorney Diana Martinez says Meraz-Espinoza is expected to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators say he walked into the Huntington Park police station on Friday and reported he had killed his mother and put her body in a freezer.
He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison if convicted of the single murder count.
