Man Barricades Himself In Home After Allegedly Stabbing Brother, Pregnant Woman
ROWLAND HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Deputies arrested a knife-wielding man Thursday who barricaded himself inside a home after two people were allegedly found stabbed.
Los Angeles County Fire said they were called to the 1800 block of Los Palacios Drive some time before 3 p.m. after someone reported that a man and a woman had been stabbed.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department was told a man with a knife was inside the home, after two victims ran out of the home bleeding.
Neighbors rushed to help the two people who were stabbed.
"My friend Alfie started wrapping their heads in towels...and I guess he just collapsed to the floor," a man who lived nearby told CBS2's Melissa McCarty.
The suspect barricaded himself in the home as deputies established a perimeter around the area. They entered the house shortly before 4:30 p.m.
David Campos, 21, surrendered to officers shortly thereafter. Another man inside the home was also taken into custody.
Neighbors said a family of five lives in the house, including the suspect and his brother. They said the suspect was in an ongoing feud with his 23-year-old brother. During an argument Thursday, neighbors said the suspect stabbed his brother and his brother's 18-year-old girlfriend, who was seven months pregnant.
"My buddy was applying pressure to the wound, and he was bleeding out. Then, the paramedics came. From what I know, he got stabbed three times and the girl was stabbed once, in the back," a neighbor said.
The two victims were airlifted to a hospital. Their injuries were described as serious. The male victim was listed in critical condition and the woman was listed in stable condition, authorities reported.
Campos was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. His bail was set at $1 million, Lt. Steven Katz of the Walnut/Diamond Bar Station said.
