Man Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI In Fatal 60 Freeway Crash
MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA.com) — A Baldwin Park man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving Thursday after his truck crashed into a car on the 60 Freeway in Monterey Park and killed two passengers.
Salvador Tamayo, 39, was booked on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He suffered minor injuries.
The accident happened around 10:15 p.m. on the westbound freeway east of Atlantic Boulevard, according to California Highway Patrol.
CHP reports the driver of a Honda Civic, Jorge Perez, struck a big rig, which caused the car to crash into the center divider and become disabled in the right-hand lane.
That's when Tamayo's truck crashed into the right side of the Honda.
Perez, 34, and his 31-year-old passenger were killed.
