Man Arrested In Deadly Shooting In Montebello
MONTEBELLO (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives investigated the deadly shooting of a 28-year-old man in Montebello on Tuesday, and Wednesday arrested a man wanted in connection with the killing.
Police on Wednesday said they arrested Sean Matthew Garcia, 25, of Montebello in the killing that they say might have occurred as part of a plan to rob the victim of a $2,000 gold chain.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, officers were sent to the 1600 block of Neil Armstrong for report of a shooting that had just occurred, according to the Montebello Police Department.
Upon their arrival, authorities located an adult man lying on the sidewalk. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, Bryan Gomez, of Lynwood, has been identified as the victim.
A preliminary investigation revealed the man sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said an assault rifle was used as the murder weapon.
According to police, a suspect fled from the scene.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities believe the crime was targeted.
