Man Arrested In Connection With Death Of Woman Found Under Newport Beach Bridge
NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 40-year-old Santa Ana man was in custody Monday on suspicion of murdering a woman whose body was found under a Newport Beach bridge on Labor Day.
Jaime Prieto Rocha was arrested around 7:40 p.m. Friday in connection with the fatal shooting death of 28-year-old Nancy Hammour, authorities said.
"This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is being released at this time," Newport Beach police said in a statement.
Hammour was reportedly found lying face down around 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 2 under the Bay Bridge at Pacific Coast Highway and Bayside Drive.
A family friend of Hammour said the victim was a new mother who most recently was renting a home in Santa Ana. Her Facebook page lists Hammour as "in a complicated relationship" and features photos of her baby boy.
Rocha was booked into the Orange County Jail where he is being held on $1 million bail.
Newport Beach Police Department asks anyone with additional information about the incident to call 1-800-550-NBPD.
