Man Arrested In Carjacking, Crash At Whittier Cemetery
WHITTIER (AP) — Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies say a man upset over his mother's death carjacked an employee at a Whittier cemetery and then flipped the pickup truck as he tried to flee.
City News Service says the 25-year-old was arrested Monday night on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and carjacking. His name wasn't released.
Authorities say the man's sister called to report he'd been drinking and was heading to his mother's grave at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
Lt. Jerry Cummins says the man pointed a gun at cemetery guards who confronted him, then took a pickup truck at gunpoint from an employee but hit the cemetery gates and flipped the truck on its side as he tried to flee.
