Father Shot After Allegedly Stabbing Family To Death
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A man allegedly stabbed a woman and the couple's two children to death early Thursday morning.
Police responded to a call just before 7 a.m. and found the victims — a 4-year-old boy, a 1-year-old girl, and their 25-year-old mother — at a home in the 10400 block of Granger Court, where the woman was renting a room, Riverside police said.
The three victims were transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead, according to authorities.
"It appears that the victim and the suspect were involved in a domestic relationship. We don't believe they were ever legally married, but were in a relationship. It is believed that he is the father of the children, but again, we're still determining the depth of the relationship," Lt. Guy Toussaint of the Riverside Police Department said.
Shortly after 7:20 a.m., the Corona Police Department received a call about a man walking away from his vehicle toward the Main Street off-ramp along the westbound 91 Freeway, authorities said.
The Corona officers recognized the man, who was covered in blood and holding a knife in his hand, as the suspect described by Riverside police in a radio broadcast minutes before.
After a short foot pursuit, an officer involved shooting occurred near the 91 Freeway and Interstate 15, Corona police said.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. He is in stable condition.
The names of the victims, as well as the suspect, have not been released.
