Man Allegedly Posed As Policeman To Molest Girls
VAN NUYS (AP) — A 24-year-old San Fernando Valley man has been charged with impersonating a police officer and fondling young girls.
Prosecutors say Joseph Reyes Rogero, of Van Nuys, was charged Thursday with 18 felony counts including kidnapping for child molesting, lewd act on a child and impersonating a public officer.
Rogero is accused of flashing what looked like a police badge and asking girls near Lawrence Middle School to help him with an investigation. He then allegedly told them they needed to wear a tracking device in their bras.
Police say there were five victims between the ages of 12 and 15.
Rogero, a trainer at a gym, was arrested Tuesday and is being held on $5.5 million bail.
