Man Accused Of Leading Deputies On 14-Mile Pursuit On Off-Road Motorcycle Before Crashing
TWENTYNINE PALMS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a man riding an off-road motorcycle was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle during a 14-mile pursuit.
The incident unfolded Friday night after officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the Twentynine Palms area.
That's when deputies say the suspect failed to yield and led authorities on a pursuit, which ended when he was struck by a Dodge Caravan.
Following the crash, authorities say the motorcycle flew and struck a patrol unit.
Both cars sustained moderate damage, though neither of the drivers in the vehicles were injured.
The suspect was airlifted to a hospital. The extent of his injuries was not known.
He was identified by authorities as Bruce Edginton, 25, of Twentynine Palms.
"During the fourteen-mile pursuit, Edginton ran red lights on SR 62 with speeds in excess of 90 MPH and drove into oncoming lanes of traffic," deputies said in a news release.
Authorities said the case is expected to be reviewed by the Morongo Basin District Attorney's Office for consideration of filing of charges.
