Man, 88, Allegedly Kills Himself, Wife In Murder-Suicide
SHERMAN OAKS (CBSLA.com) — An 88-year-old man fatally shot himself in his Sherman Oaks back yard after killing his 85-year-old wife.
Authorities said Burton Levin called family members at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday to tell them he had just given his wife, Lenore, a lethal dose of medication.
A statement by the LAPD's Van Nuys Division said the man was despondent over the couple's failing health.
When detectives arrived at the couple's home in the 3500 block of Weslin Avenue, they found Levin dead in the back yard. Lenore Levin's body was found during a search of the home. Officials said her body showed no signs of trauma.
It was not known how long the couple was married.
