Man, 57, Found Guilty Of Murdering Roommate Over $10 Cable Bill Dispute
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a 57-year-old man has been found guilty of murder sparked by a dispute over a $10 cable bill.
Kenneth Theodrick Parks was found guilty of murdering a female roommate and wounding her boyfriend.
Jurors deliberated for about a day, officials said.
Parks was found guilty of one count each of first-degree murder and attempted murder. The panel also found true gun and great bodily injury allegations.
At trial, Deputy DA Joshua Ritter said Parks and Terri Kwan Smith, 42, rented out rooms at a home in South Los Angeles. The two had an ongoing dispute over a $10 cable bill that she hadn't paid.

On April 14, 2014, Parks was outside Smith's room when he opened fire, killing her. Smith's boyfriend. then 40, also was shot and struck twice. He was able to grab the gun from Parks and hit the defendant with it, the DA added.
Smith was a mother of two.
Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 1.
Parks faces a possible maximum sentence of life in prison.
