Man, 50, Dies After Slamming Motorhome Into Lake Elsinore Restaurant
LAKE ELSINORE (CBS) — The driver of a recreational vehicle died Thursday when he crashed his motorhome into the side of a Lake Elsinore restaurant.
David Dobbs, 50, was killed around 10 a.m. when he drove his RV into Lacey J's Roadhouse at 18815 Grand Ave., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities believe the act was intentional.
CHP Officer Nathan Baer said Dobbs was headed north on Grand at about 55 mph when he "made an abrupt turn into the (restaurant) driveway," steering the motorhome into the building.
"At this time in the investigation, it appears to have been an intentional act, intended as a suicidal gesture," a Riverside County Coroner's Office statement said. County fire crews had to stabilize the structure and extricate Dobbs from the wreckage. He was pronounced dead at the scene less than an hour after the crash.
No patrons or employees of the restaurant were injured.
