Man, 49, Dies In Orange County Sheriff's Custody

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A 49-year-old man has died in Orange County Sheriff's custody.

Officials with the Orange County Sheriff's department announced that on Saturday, Sept. 1, at approximately 6:45 p.m. Byron Scott died while in their custody.

He died at the jail ward located at UCI Medical Center in Orange.

He was reportedly arrested on August 21 on a probation violation.

An autopsy is pending.

Authorities said the death did not appear suspicious.

The Orange County DA's office will investigate, as is a standard procedure when inmates die while in custody.
