Man, 28, Convicted In Murder, Rape Of 84-Year-Old O.C. Widow
SANTA ANA (AP) — A man has been convicted of murdering an 84-year-old widow in her Orange County home after raping and torturing her.
A jury that found 28-year-old Anthony Wade guilty of the crime on Friday will consider whether he should be sentenced to death or life in prison.
The Los Angeles man was accused of breaking into Bessie Whyman's Anaheim home on Jan 10, 2010. Prosecutors said he raped Whyman, tied her up and tortured her before stabbing her with a kitchen knife and saw.
He was arrested in San Bernardino after trying to use Whyman's stolen credit cards at a supermarket.
He also had a car registered to the victim.
