Man, 26, Wanted On Suspicion Of Murder In Mexico Arrested In Santa Ana

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A 26-year-old man wanted on suspicion of murder in Mexico was arrested in Santa Ana, police said Thursday.

Jose Miguel Gonzalez Alegria was nabbed Wednesday at a home in the 1600 block of South Towner Street. A department official said it was contacted by relatives of a murder victim who was stabbed to death on Aug. 23, 2009 in San Juan Del Rio, Queretaro, Mexico.

Alegria was booked at the Santa Ana Police Department jail on outstanding warrants for domestic violence and traffic offenses, police said.

Detectives have contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which has placed a hold on Alegria and is working with the U.S. Marshals Service and Mexican authorities to transfer Alegria back to Mexico to face murder charges.
