Man, 24, Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Unconscious Woman
OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities in Oxnard report the arrest of a 24-year-old man they say sexually assaulted an unconscious woman.
Officials say 24-year-old Hugo David Alaniz of Oxnard sexually assaulted the alleged victim after she consumed several alcoholic beverages at a nightclub on February 15 at about 11 p.m.
The alleged assault occurred at an apartment in downtown Oxnard, near the nightclub where Alaniz met the woman.
Police said the woman left the nightclub with Alaniz and several of his acquaintances
The victim passed out after reaching the apartment in the 400 block of W. Gonzales Road. While she was unconscious, Alaniz allegedly assaulted the woman sexually.
Witnesses intervened to stop Alaniz from further sexually assaulting the victim.
Alaniz was arrested on March 5 by detectives from the Oxnard Police Department's Family Protection Unit. He was charged with rape of an intoxicated person. He is currently being held at the Ventura County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
Police investigators believe Alaniz may have assaulted other victims and are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Dale McAlpine at (805) 385-3921.
