Man, 21, Charged With Murdering Stepmom In Lake Forest Home
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A 21-year-old man was charged Monday in connection to the murder of his stepmother at her Lake Forest home.
Oscar Luis Morlett III, who is in custody on $1 million bail, allegedly used a type of ax to kill 66-year-old Jeanne Ellen Morlett. He's scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on the murder charge, along with a sentence-enhancing allegation of personal use of a deadly weapon, according to the Orange County district attorney's office.
The victim's body was found in her home on Blazewood, near Portola and Alton parkways, around 11:20 a.m. Friday. Her stepson was arrested later that day.
Morlett had been due in court Monday on misdemeanor charges of carrying a dirk or dagger, possession of a deadly weapon, a leaded cane, and having a passenger under 21 in possession of alcohol in a vehicle, according to court records.
