Man, 18, Pleads Not Guilty In Kidnapping, Rape Of Topanga Mall Employee
VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — An 18-year-old Lancaster man pleaded not guilty Thursday to the alleged kidnapping and rape of a Westfield Topanga Mall employee on the Fourth of July.
Kioki Ray Snowden was charged with four counts of forcible rape, three counts of identity theft, two counts of kidnapping to commit another crime and one count each of second-degree robbery, sexual penetration by a foreign object, forcible oral copulation, sodomy by use of force and second-degree commercial burglary.
The complaint includes special allegations that Snowden used a deadly weapon, a knife, in the commission of the offense, kidnapped and bound the victim and substantially increased the risk of harm to the victim through movement.
Around 5:30 p.m. July 4, the suspect allegedly kidnapped a 19-year-old woman at knifepoint when she returned to her car in the mall's parking lot. Snowden then went on to sexually assault and rob the victim, police said.
Snowden was taken into custody on July 11.
He's due back in court Sept. 11.
