Maloof Family Files Trademark For 'Anaheim Royals'
ANAHEIM, Calif. (CBS) - An attorney representing the Maloof family, who owns the Sacramento Kings, has filed trademark papers earlier this month for the names "Anaheim Royals" and "Anaheim Royals of Southern California."
The Maloofs have been contemplating for weeks a move to Anaheim's Honda Center.
Earlier in the month, the NBA granted the Sacramento Kings an extension on the deadline to file an application for relocation next season.
The league also said that the Kings will have the opportunity to discuss their options at the NBA Board of Governors meetings April 14-15. The team will have until April 18 to decide if it plans to relocate.
