Lululemon Recalls Sheer Black Yoga Pants

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Lululemon Athletica Inc. has pulled popular Luon black yoga pants from store shelves.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based retailer announced Monday certain shipments of the product that were available in stores and online starting Mar. 1 were too sheer and did not meet its high standards.

Lululemon said the company is working with its supplier to replace the fabric as quickly as possible, but in the meantime, there may be a shortage of the popular Luon pants.

"We regret any inconvenience this has caused for our guests. It is always our first priority to protect the quality of our fabrics that keep our guest so loyal to our products. We will accept nothing less than the very highest quality we are known for," Lululemon CEO Christine Day said in a statement.

The company also noted the recall of the pants, which amount to approximately 17 percent of all women's pants sold in its stores, will have significant financial impact, but specific revenue numbers will be provided following its regularly scheduled earnings call on Mar. 21.

"We have used the same manufacturing partner on key fabrics since 2004. This event is not the result of changing manufacturers or quality of ingredients. We are working closely with them to understand what happened during the period this fabric was made," the company stated.

Lululemon is offering full refunds or exchanges for customers who purchased black Luon pants online or in stores after Mar. 1.
