Calif. Lottery Officials OK Powerball
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — California lottery officials have decided to bring the Powerball game to California on the heels of a record $588 million jackpot.
KNX 1070's Mike Landa reports the California Lottery Commission voted unanimously on Thursday to adopt the multi-state mega-jackpot game.

Tickets costing $2 apiece are scheduled to go on sale in April of next year, with the first drawing expected on April 10.
California Lottery spokesman Elias Dominguez said timing played a big factor in the decision.
"In a way, it came at a great time, because Powerball...had a huge jackpot, it's unfortunate that we weren't part of it," said Dominguez. "People obviously really wanted it."
Two winning tickets were sold in Missouri and Arizona in the latest Powerball jackpot, but no one has come forward.
Ticket sales for the game - which is currently sold in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands - are expected to generate an additional $50 million and as much as $100 million in revenue for California schools.
