Lottery Fever Hits SoCal As Powerball Jackpot Grows To $425M
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — There are 425 million reasons to play the Powerball lottery Wednesday.
The $425 million prize, which is expected to grow throughout the day, is the fourth-largest jackpot ever.
Odds of winning are just one in 175 million.
In order to win, one must draw six numbers that match all six numbers randomly selected by the lottery system. Players can also win a $1 million or $10,000 prize by matching combinations of five numbers. A $100 prize is awarded for those who match four numbers.
Powerball tickets are sold in 43 states, Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands at a cost of $2 each.
Ticket sales close at 7p.m. with the drawing taking place at 8 p.m.
