Local Group Urges Metro To Finish Work On 405 Freeway
SEPULVEDA PASS (CBSLA.com) — A local group is urging Metro officials to hurry up and finish work to widen the 405 freeway.
David Murphy, who created "Angelenos Against Gridlock", wasn't happy when he learned the Sepulveda Pass Improvement Project was six months behind schedule.
"(The 405) is the busiest, most congested (freeway) in the country. This particular segment is the third busiest in all of America. 331,000 Angelenos travel every day. We're looking at a potential six month delay on completion of the project. That's unacceptable," Murphy said.
Murphy launched Faster 405 to put more pressure on the utility companies and contractors behind the freeway project.
Murphy said Metro officials told him the reason construction hasn't been completed is because of budget problems and "external factors."
KCAL9's calls to Metro were not returned.
