Lightning Causes Several Power Outages In OC
FULLERTON (CBS) — Sporadic thunderstorms were being reported across the Southland Friday morning.
Lightning strikes caused power outages in various communities in northern Orange County, including Fullerton, Garden Grove, Yorba Linda, Westminster and Brea, according to Steve Conroy of Southern California Edison.
Power lines hit were also down at Carbon Canyon Park in Brea, Conroy says.
Fullerton Community College was closed for the day because of an outage that was apparently caused by lightning that struck the campus at 10 a.m., according to school spokeswoman Andrea Hanstin.
Power was also out in the surrounding neighborhood, she says.
