Leaked Video Of 'Famous' Conversation Reignites Feud Between Kanye West, Taylor Swift
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Taylor Swift took to social media to defend herself after a video of parts of a recorded phone conversation with Kanye West were leaked.
Swift claimed on her official Twitter page Sunday West "secretly" recorded the phone call, while Kim Kardashian posted it online.
The taped conversation between the two singers reportedly included West giving Swift a heads up about a lyric in his single "Famous" in which he says, "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, Why? I made that b---h famous."
After the song's release, Swift's spokesperson took issue, reportedly calling it "inappropriate," and claiming that West did not call for approval.
Swift Sunday said in her tweet, "Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me 'that b---h' in his song? It doesn't exist because it never happened. You don't get to control someone's emotional response to being called 'that b---h' in front of the entire world."
She went on to say, "Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination."
Kardashian was reportedly so upset over the ordeal she was willing to risk a lawsuit, "Entertainment Tonight's" Cameron Mathison reports, citing a source close to the reality star.
Kardashian Sunday also took to Twitter, saying: "There's a BIG difference between shading someone and speaking the truth!"
In a separate tweet, she urged her followers to follow her on Snapchat, where parts of the conversation were leaked.
A source close to Kardashian told ET the release of the recorded conversation was a last-second decision.
In California, the mere act of recording someone without their consent is a crime. Publishing the recording is also a crime.
Legal experts say it will be up to prosecutors to examine the facts and decide if they want to take action against Kardashian or West.
The celebrity website, TMZ.com, is reporting that Swift's attorneys have already sent a letter with demands.
