LAX-Bound United Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Denver
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A United Airlines Boeing 757 headed towards Los Angeles lost one of its two engines shortly after taking off from Denver Sunday, but landed safely at the airport in Grand Junction, Colo.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said the plane touched down at 10:44 a.m. Pacific time at the airport in western Colorado.
A United spokesman told a local news station that there were 125 people aboard Flight 321, including six crew members. Passengers reportedly applauded the uneventful landing.
Another aircraft was dispatched from Denver to take the passengers on to LAX, and that plane was estimated to leave Grand Junction at 1:30 p.m. Pacific time. If that happens on time, the replacement plane was to arrive at LAX at 3:28 p.m., according to a United estimate.
